Insider buying/selling - useful indicator

Company insider buying and selling can be a useful indicator for predicting when a company's stock price is about to increase or become stagnant.

Insiders - first hand knowledge

Company insiders have first hand knowledge concerning the health of their company, and many times this is reflected in the personal stock purchases and sales by the insider of their company's stock.

Insider buying/selling - long position signal

Even though company insider buying and selling can be a useful indicator of a stock price's increase, company insider buying and selling is generally not as good an indicator of a stock price's demise. Insider buying and selling can be useful for deciding when to take a long position in a stock or for deciding when to exit a long position, but generally not useful for deciding when to take a short position in a stock.
